Manchester City and Arsenal players make up most of the PFA Premier League team which is voted by topflight players.

The PFA Team of the Year for the 2022/2023 Premier League season has been announced with Liverpool’s Mohamed Salah and Bruno Fernandes of Manchester United missing.

Champions Manchester City and challengers Arsenal dominated the team with a combined nine players in the eleven.

The annual PFA awards took place on Tuesday, with Erling Haaland named the Player of the Year after an excellent debut campaign.

His impressive debut campaign saw him smash several Premier League records en route to scoring 36 goals in 35 appearances.

The 22-year-old Norwegian forward denied his teammate, Kevin De Bruyne, the chance to make history with a third PFA award.

Salah, Fernandes subbed

Haaland led the team of the season alongside four other Man City teammates, with four players from Arsenal while there was no place for Salah and Fernandes.

City and Arsenal went head-to-head in an interesting Premier League title race which the Cityzens won following a collapse by the Gunners.

It’s no surprise to see both teams dominate the team of the year with five and four players respectively.

Representing the Cityzens alongside Haaland are centre backs, John Stones and Ruben Dias, Rodri and De Bruyne.

Bruno Fernandes is a key player for Manchester United and the new captain.

For Arsenal, Bukayo Saka, who also went home with the Young Player of the Year award, is joined by Martin Odegaard, William Saliba and goalkeeper, Aaron Ramsdale who was picked ahead of Golden Glove winner and ex-United star David De Gea and Alisson of Liverpool.

However, Liverpool’s in-demand playmaker Salah and Fernandes of Man United were snubbed for the best eleven.

Salah netted 19 goals and assisted 12 more last season while Fernandes had eight goals and eight assists last season for the Red Devils.

But despite their numbers, both players were not considered good enough for the team.
