Modric's farewell
Speaking to the club's official media channels, Modric delivered a touching message to President Florentino Perez, his teammates, and the fans: "The president has been very important to me, above all because he brought me here.
"From that moment on, he has always shown me special affection and treated me very well. Now I can say it: he treated me differently. And I think he showed it in my last match because I had never seen him cry."
"An unforgettable, glorious, and victorious period has come to an end. What I've experienced makes me even happier. Remembering everything I've achieved here makes me very happy, even though I'm at the end of this stage.
"At Real Madrid, I grew as a player and as a person. Real Madrid gave me everything in football, and for that, I will be grateful for the rest of my life. I will always be a Madridista," he continued, as reported by Sportal.
Asked about his most memorable moment with the club, Modric highlighted winning La Decima at the Estadio da Luz in 2014: "That's when it all started. The dominance of the last 12 or 13 years began, which has been incredible. We won six Champions Leagues in 10 years. I always mention La Decima because it was impressive, and the way we won it.
"That match perfectly shows what Real Madrid is." With 597 appearances for the club, Modric departs as one of the greatest in Real Madrid's history, leaving a legacy of titles, class, and leadership that will forever be remembered at the Santiago Bernabeu. His next destination is AC Milan.
