'He's my idol' - PSG star Vitinha speaks highly of Real Madrid legend Modric

Real Madrid suffered a heavy defeat at the hands of Paris Saint-Germain, losing 4-0 in the semi-final of the Club World Cup.

Three first-half goals and another in the second half ended Real Madrid's hope of making it to the final to face Chelsea.

In the wake of PSG's historic 4-0 victory over Real Madrid in the Club World Cup semi-final, Vitinha spoke glowingly of Luka Modric, who officially bid farewell to Los Blancos after 13 years.

The Portuguese midfielder showed immense respect for the Croatian icon and publicly thanked Modric for his recent praise.

"Modric means a lot to me. He's my idol. I thanked him for what he said about me. It's an honour to share the field with him," a visibly emotional Vitinha told DAZN, via Abola.

About a month ago, Modric praised the Portuguese international, stating: "He's one of the best, if not the best midfielder in the world. He's excellent on the ball, with phenomenal vision."

The match between PSG and Real Madrid, marked by the French side's dominance and the departure of a European football legend, was also highlighted by this gesture of admiration and respect between two generations of midfielders.
