What happened

Real Madrid won the El Clásico last weekend, their first since two seasons ago. However, an incident involving Vinicius tainted the event.

As Pulse Sports reported, the former Flamengo winger was replaced in the 72nd minute of the game, with Rodrygo taking his place.

While exiting the pitch, Vinicius was visibly displeased with the decision to substitute him, and he yelled, “Me?!” Before yelling “Coach, coach!” to Alonso. The Basque tactician did not attempt to approach him; instead, he said, “Come on, Vini, damn it.”

Vinicius then began to yell in the direction of the assistant coach, Sebas Parilla, saying, “Always me! I’m leaving the team; it’s better if I leave. I’m leaving!”

Vinicius has apologised, releasing a statement on social media in which he apologised to fans and the club.

He noticeably avoided apologising to Alonso in the statement, and reports claim it was intentional, as the Brazil international was unhappy with his status in the Basque tactician's administration.

Alonso dispelled the notion in the pre-match press conference for the game against Valencia, stating that they had solved the issue.

“There’s NO Vini Jr case; it’s all clarified,” Alonso said, per Fabrizio Romano. “Vini spoke in front of all of us on Wednesday, and he’s been fantastic.”

“He’s been very honest and clear. Also, his statement has been powerful. The words he said to his teammates are the most important thing.”
