I'm leaving this team — Vinicius threatens Alonso after El Clasico substitution
The broadcast audio from Vinicius's tantrums after being substituted at the El Clasico has been released, and it suggests a disharmonious dressing room.
The 25-year-old was a standout performer in Real Madrid's 2-1 victory against Barcelona, which helped them open a five-point lead at the LALIGA summit.
Despite his performance, however, he was substituted out for the seventh game this season, and this did not go down well with the Brazil international.
Vinicius's reactions
The former Flamengo winger was replaced in the 72nd minute of the game with Rodrygo taking his place. While exiting the pitch, Vinicius was visibly displeased with the decision to substitute him, and he yelled something at Alonso and the bench before storming into the dressing room.
According to The Athletic, DAZN released the audio from the broadcast; when the board went up displaying his number for substitution, he said, “Me?!” Before yelling “Coach, coach!” to Alonso. The Basque tactician did not attempt to approach him; instead, he said, “Come on, Vini, damn it.”
Vinicius then began to yell in the direction of the assistant coach, Sebas Parilla, saying, “Always me! I’m leaving the team; it’s better if I leave. I’m leaving!”
Vinicius has lost his previous untouchable status at Real Madrid, with Xabi Alonso making it clear that he is on the carousel of rotation. The winger has started 10 of Los Blancos’s 13 games this season and only finished three.
He is evidently displeased with Alonso's squad management and also reacted angrily when he was substituted off against Espanyol last month.
Vinicius eventually cooled down on Sunday and returned to the dugout. However, that did not last long, as he got involved in the post-match fracas which saw him and Real Madrid players like Andriy Lunin, Dani Carvajal and Thibaut Courtois go at Lamine Yamal for his pre-match comments.
