He won a majority of fan votes, with over 30,000 fans and 26 journalists participating in the voting process.

Chukwueze deservedly won the award after a brilliant campaign with Villarreal. The Nigeria international had his best season yet with the Yellow Submarines this year, scoring six goals and setting up another five in 37 games.

The former Golden Eaglets star started 27 league games this season, with his performance against Real Madrid standing out.

Chukwueze scored twice against Los Blancos at the Santiago Bernabeu Stadium, including a stunning winner that fired Villarreal to a 3-2 win.
