Liverpool boast a squad market value of €879 million. But who are the highest-paid players in the Reds team?

Liverpool will head to Stamford Bridge on Tuesday, April 4, to play Chelsea in Matchday 30 of the Premier League.

Liverpool will be hoping to bounce back from a defeat last weekend against defending champions and second-placed Manchester City.

The Reds saw their bid to secure a Top four finish dealt a huge blow following the 3-1 loss at the Etihad.

Chelsea on the other hand look like a house on fire, as the Blues suffered a 2-0 defeat against Aston Villa in the Premier League over the weekend.

The disappointing loss was also followed by the brutal sacking of Graham Potter as Chelsea coach, having arrived just six months ago.

Liverpool and Chelsea are both desperate for a win on Tuesday night as three points in the league will be very vital to the respective team’s chances of securing European football.

In the 2018–19 season he won the UEFA Champions League, and the following season won the UEFA Super Cup, the FIFA Club World Cup after scoring the winner in the final, and the 2019–20 Premier League title. He also won the FA Cup with Liverpool.

During the 2017-18 season, Firmino, Mohamed Salah, Philippe Coutinho and Sadio Mané made up a prolific attacking quarter, dubbed the "Fab Four", in reference to the rock band The Beatles, also from the same city as the club.

Following the mid-season exit of Coutinho, the three remaining players were dubbed as the "Fab Three", with the trio having a total of 91 goals between them at the end of the season.

Firmino was Liverpool's joint top goalscorer in the Champions League, together with Salah, with 11 goals.

Firmino was also included in the 2017–18 Champions League Squad of the Season.

The 2017–18 season was Firmino's most prolific in his Liverpool career, as he scored 27 goals in all competitions.

Firmino scored his 100th goal for Liverpool on 27 August 2022 when he bagged a brace in the 9–0 demolition of AFC Bournemouth in the Premier League.

One of his best-known goal celebrations, 'the Matador', also features in the EA Sports FIFA 19 video game.

Virgil van Dijk  is 31-year-old a Dutch professional footballer who plays as a centre-back for Liverpool and captains the Netherlands national team.

Considered one of the best defenders in the world, Van Dijk is known for his strength, leadership and aerial ability.

In 2015, he joined Southampton before signing for Liverpool in January 2018 for £75 million, a then-world-record transfer fee for a defender.

With Liverpool, Van Dijk reached back-to-back UEFA Champions League finals in 2018 and 2019, winning the latter.

He was also named PFA Players' Player of the Year and the Premier League Player of the Season in his first full season. Van Dijk later won the FIFA Club World Cup and UEFA Super Cup, and helped end the club's 30-year league title drought by winning the 2019–20 Premier League.

Van Dijk is the only defender to win the UEFA Men's Player of the Year Award, and has finished runner-up for both the Ballon d'Or and Best FIFA Men's Player, both in 2019.

On 29 October 2022, Liverpool lost 2–1 at home to Leeds United which was Van Dijk's first home defeat at Anfield in the Premier League after 70 games since joining the club in January 2018.

Van Dijk is a physically strong, right-footed centre-back, who usually features on the left-hand side of the central defence, although he can also play as a right-sided centre-back.

He also possesses pace, good technique, and has an eye for goal.

In a 2019 interview with Marca, when Lionel Messi was asked why Van Dijk was so difficult to beat, the Argentine responded:

"He is a defender who knows how to judge his timing and wait for the right moment to challenge or jockey [the attacker]. He is very fast and big, but he has a lot of agility for his height. He is fast because of its [sic] great stride, and he is impressive both in defence and attack because he scores lots of goals."

In 2022, Erling Haaland also named Van Dijk the best defender he has played against, calling him "fast, strong and 'bad' smart", and also praised his timing.

Van Dijk has been widely included in the conversation of the greatest defenders of all time.

However, he has recently drawn criticism for his performances at club level since late 2022.

As of April 2023, Virgil van Dijk earns a weekly salary of £220,000, with his current contract set to expire in 2025, making him the 2nd highest-paid Liverpool player.
