Manchester United and Chelsea reportedly face hefty wage demands from one transfer target.

Liam Delap is reportedly preparing to demand a substantial weekly wage in his next contract, amid interest from Premier League clubs Manchester United and Chelsea.

The Red Devils are known to be considering the 22-year-old, although they are also exploring alternative attacking options, including Victor Osimhen

Chelsea, managed by Enzo Maresca, are also understood to be monitoring the player's situation.

Liam Delap’s reported wage demands

Despite Ipswich's relegation from the Premier League, Delap enjoyed a successful individual campaign, scoring 12 goals and providing two assists in 33 top-flight appearances.

His performances have made him a sought-after prospect ahead of the summer transfer window, with United, Chelsea and Newcastle United seemingly interested; former club Manchester City could also re-sign their academy graduate.

According to The Evening Chronicle, Delap is looking to secure a long-term deal with a significant weekly salary said to be between £120,000-£150,000.

Despite the young forward’s relatively affordable £30 million release clause, which became active following Ipswich's relegation, the striker’s reported wage demands could present a hurdle for potential suitors.

What’s next for Manchester United and Chelsea?

United and Chelsea are in European action on Thursday, with Ruben Amorim’s men facing Athletic Club in the Europa League semi-final first leg, while Maresca’s team are in Conference League semi-final action at Swedish outfit Djurgardens.
