Alisha Lehmann's place on the bench discouraged some fans from watching Arsenal vs Aston Villa.

Arsenal beat Aston Villa 2-1 in a thrilling encounter in the Women's Super League but many missed out on the excitement on the count of Alisha Lehmann's absence.

The 26-year-old is widely regarded as the most attractive female footballer; hence, she is one of the most famous names in the sport. She started from the bench against Arsenal, and many fans confessed to having turned off their TV on that basis.

What happened

Arsenal hosted the women's Aston Villa team today, and after consecutive defeats to Manchester United and Liverpool, Villaian boss Carla Ward opted to shuffle the back, and Lehmann was a casualty.

The Switzerland international dropped to the bench and only came on somewhat as an afterthought in the eighth minute of second-half injury time.

Aston Villa lost the game to their hosts despite leading up until the 92nd minute of the game.  Katie McCabe and Alessia Russo's quick-fire double turned the game around for the Gunners, and Lehmann was brought on in the 98th minute as Ward attempted to at least go home with a point.

What fans said

The Daily Star monitored the charter online from fans, and they noticed a trend of male fans who claimed to have changed their mind about watching the game as Lehmann was uninvolved for the most part.

A fan said, "Short story: Turned #WSL on to watch Arsenal vs Villa. Alisha Lehmann on the bench. Turned off." Another said, "I’d only be interested in going over the Emirates today to see Alisha Lehmann not going to lie.”

A third was upfront about his intents, and how they are unrelated to her football skills, "Arsenal women FC playing and all I’m interested in is Alisha Lehmann… I’m down bad." A fourth added, "Alisha Lehmann on the bench is a joke. Coach is the enemy of entertainment."
