VIDEO: Victor Osimhen promises Nigerians AFCON title
Super Eagles striker Victor Osimhen has pledged to deliver the Africa Cup of Nations title to Nigerian fans following the team’s dominant 2–0 quarter-final victory over Algeria.
The Galatasaray forward was the standout performer at the Stade de Marrakech on Saturday, scoring Nigeria’s opening goal and providing the assist for Akor Adams’ second to secure a place in the semi-finals.
What Osimhen said
In a video shared by the Confederation of African Football (CAF) on X, Osimhen directly addressed supporters across the globe, thanking them for their unwavering support and promising to push for the ultimate prize.
“To the Super Eagles fans, thank you so much for your support worldwide,” Osimhen said.
He added, “This victory was not easy, and I’m happy the team got the win against Algeria. We’ll continue to build on this momentum. Hopefully, we’ll get to the final and win it.”

Speaking to journalists after the match, the 27-year-old striker lauded his teammates for producing a performance worthy of the occasion against a formidable opponent.
“We prepared well for this game, and I am so happy about the team’s performance,” Osimhen said.
He added, “We were playing against a very big team with a rich footballing history and many quality players. Against a team like that, you have to bring your A-game.
“From the first whistle to the very end, we gave our everything, and we deserved the win.”

Osimhen’s goal against Algeria was his fourth of the tournament and his 35th overall for Nigeria, moving him within two goals of equalling Rashidi Yekini’s all-time Super Eagles record of 37 goals.
Nigeria has also maintained a perfect record at the tournament, winning all five of its matches and scoring 14 goals.
The Super Eagles are now the first team in AFCON history to win their opening five games in a single edition of the competition.
Nigeria will face host nation Morocco in a highly anticipated semi-final on Wednesday.
