The former Tottenham Hotspur academy graduate sealed a six-month loan deal to Tranmere Rovers from Leyton Orient and is looking to make his debut for the club on Saturday when they play away to Gillingham.

Obiero is hoping to hit the ground running for his new side, which is placed 17th in the 24-team league with 30 points from 29 matches, and have lost their last five games on the bounce.

With Kenyans lauding him for his latest career move, the 21-year-old is thrilled by the love he is getting back home and hopes to respond with good performances for his new team.

“Really grateful for all the support back home in Kenya,” Obiero said. “I am really excited to be out there with the boys on Saturday and hopefully get a win. You can watch the game on Rovers TV,” he added, rallying the fans to follow him in action.

Obiero Reveals Lofty Ambitions

Obiero, who has had stints with Kenya’s U20 team is hoping that his stint in League Two, England’s fourth tier, will help him catch the eye of Harambee Stars coach Benni McCarthy leading up to the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations.

“I think every player has targets, but my mode is just trying to get as many (goals) as possible, just to help the team, just see what I can do,” he told the club about his personal goals.

“I am really happy to be here, excited to start a new journey and just ready to get going. I would say I am more attacking-minded. I do like to work hard…I do like to track back, but more going forward, exciting, dribble, get goals, assist, that’s more my game.”

Obiero had made 40 appearances, including nine this season, and scored one goal, providing an assist for Leyton Orient, before his move to Tranmere Rovers.
