‘No Sub Till 85th Minute’ - Kenyans Send Firm Message to Charlton Ahead of Collins Sichenje’s Potential Debut
Kenyan fans have made their demands on English Championship side Charlton Athletic regarding Harambee Stars defender Collins Sichenje who could make his debut on Friday night.
Sichenje sealed a transfer to the English side this week and with Charlton set to host Queens Park Rangers on Friday (from 11pm East African time), Kenyans want to see their own in the starting XI.
Reacting to a matchday poster posted online by the English side, Kenyans were categorical that the 22-year-old must be introduced from the start.
“Our boy better be on the Starting XI, if not, its a world war,” said a fan in response to the poster with another one weighing in: “Collins Sichenje: 1. On the matchday graphic ✅2. Starting 11 soon.”

“We can confirm the memo was received, read, highlighted, and actioned. Admin is such a good listener. We are looking forward to the game……and the first XI,” another one commented.
“As we walk through the Valley of pure footy, we fear no evil. Please pray for QPR. They will not believe it. Captain Sichenji on the wheel.”
“If our boy Collins Sichenje is not in the line-up tonight we gonna have a problem,” was the message from one Kenyan, adding: “He has to start.......lazima aanze leo.”
“Let’s go….don’t try and bench our boy. Don’t forget our contract terms,” another one weighed in.
Outrageous Demands from Kenyans
There were also some outrageous demands ahead of Sichenje’s potential debut.
“Please note that, should Sichenje score an own goal, the teammates should apologise to him for making his work difficult,” posted another Kenyan fan.
“Admin, you’re learning fast, well done!… When our boy scores his first goal. We want a billboard of him put up 2.5KM away from the stadium introducing him to English football. Thank you.”
“He starts on his debut. No sub till 85th minute or later. Shot off target is an assist. Shot on target is a goal. A goal is a holiday,” another Kenyan fan commented.
Sichenje joined Charlton after a transfer fee of €1.9 million (Ksh288.9 million) was agreed with Serbian club FK Vojvodina.
