Nathan Jones: Collins Sichenje is a Great Signing for Charlton Athletic

Speaking to the team’s media channel, Nathan Jones said that Collins Sichenje is fully prepared for the challenges ahead, having already completed a full season and taken a short break before joining pre-season with Charlton.

He explained that Collins Sichenje has been up to speed with training and adapting well to the team’s routines, showing the kind of athleticism expected from someone with his background.

The Charlton Athletic coach added that his natural physical ability and professionalism were clear, highlighting that being an exceptional athlete was something they could rely on from the very start.

“No, he's actually up to speed, he's done a pre-season, he's had a full season, had a little bit of time off, then doing a pre-season with his team. And, you know, super athlete, as you would expect from being of Kenyan heritage. It's one thing that they are; he's an athlete, so we know that,” he added.

Nathan Jones: Collins Sichenje is Technically Really Good

Nathan Jones added that Collins Sichenje would need a period of adjustment to adapt to English football and, more specifically, the intensity and physicality of the Championship, but he expressed strong confidence in the player’s abilities.

He described Collins Sichenje as aggressive, front-footed, and technically very good, highlighting that his style of play fit well with what the team wanted.

Nathan Jones also emphasised that having the player available was a major boost for Charlton, noting that the club was delighted to secure his signing.

He explained that the transfer reflected the club’s strategy of acting early in the market, which allowed them to work through the process carefully and ultimately get the deal done successfully, giving them time to properly assess and integrate the player into the squad.

“Look, he'll take a little bit of time to adapt to Championship football, English football first, but then Championship football especially. But we're really happy with him. He's aggressive, he's front-footed, technically really good,” he shared.

“And look, he is available, and we're delighted. As I said, it shows what we want to do because he was one-way there, for the summer, but with us doing our business really early and having a little bit able to have a crack at it.

“We were able to have a week of having a crack at it because these transfers take that time, and we're delighted to have got it through.”
