You fell off: Two-time Champions League winners Enyimba chop brutal beating in Ibadan
The People's Elephants arrived at Lekan Salami Stadium carrying the swagger of their 3-0 victory over 3SC in Aba last December in the reverse fixture as the NPFL resumed for the second half of the season.
But after 90 minutes, they left Ibadan on Wednesday with their pride in tatters and social media dragging them through the mud after suffering an identical 3-0 humiliation.
From the first whistle, Shooting Stars meant business. New signing Lucky Emmanuel announced his arrival like a party crasher, coolly slotting home a 16th-minute penalty to send the Oluyole Warriors into raptures. The Ibadan faithful had waited weeks for this moment, and Emmanuel delivered.
Enyimba, once Africa's continental kings, looked utterly lost. For 80 minutes they chased shadows, failing to register a single shot on target.
When Sodiq Ibrahim fired home the second goal in the 80th minute, the rout was on. Super-sub Qamar Adegoke twisted the knife in stoppage time, scoring just three minutes after coming on to complete the demolition.
The result leaves Shooting Stars sitting pretty in fourth place with 32 points, while Enyimba languish in 12th on 26 points, a catastrophic fall for a team with two CAF Champions League titles in their trophy cabinet.
Enyimba's post-match statement was diplomatic: "Not the result we hoped for but we will regroup for a better outing next time." Their fans were less forgiving.
"Clowns...what result were you expecting before...clowns," one frustrated supporter fired off on social media. Another added: "Men... Y'all really fell off TBH. I no fit even vex sef. Kwantinue."

The most brutal assessment? "You play dem 3-0 for home, come go away chop 3 goals."
Sweet revenge indeed for the Southwest giants, who now have momentum on their side as they push toward the top three.
For Enyimba, the calendar offers no sympathy, they must regroup immediately or risk sliding deeper into mid-table mediocrity.
