Xavi's wife drops huge hint ahead of proposed Manchester United move

Xavi Hernandez’s wife, Nuria Cunillera, has lent credence to the rumours that the Manchester United leadership met with the Barcelona legend to discuss taking over from Erik ten Hag, with the Dutch looking increasingly unlikely to turn the situation around at Old Trafford. 

As Pulse Sports reported, Manchester United made contact with former Barcelona manager Xavi Hernandez as Erik ten Hag faces increasing pressure following a poor start to the season.

With the Red Devils struggling to find consistency, the Old Trafford hierarchy is considering their options, and Xavi has emerged as a potential candidate for the top job.

The former Barcelona coach, who led the Spanish giants to a La Liga title in 2022, is seen as an appealing option to replace the faltering Ten Hag. Xavi has been out of work since leaving Barcelona in the summer, making him a readily available candidate.

When the rumours surfaced, Manchester United sources played them down, claiming that INEOS chairman Jim Ratcliffe was only in Barcelona for the America’s Cup. 

However, a recent post from Xavi’s wife suggests that there are some truths to the rumours. The 43-year-old, via her Instagram story, shared a picture of the former Barcelona captain and their son, Dan Hernandez, who was clad in Manchester United's 2023/24 home kit. 

Xavi and his family are devout Barcelona fans; hence, young Dan's fashion choice raises curiosity, given the rumours swirling around. For many, Nuria’s post has all but confirmed Xavi will become the next Manchester United manager, or at least that the talks have happened.
