The New York Liberty took a 2-0 lead in the 2024 WNBA Semifinals after defeating the Las Vegas Aces, the reigning WNBA Champions, 88-84.
This season, New York enjoyed a double-digit advantage over Las Vegas in all five of the team's meetings.
It was the second-largest paint-scoring disparity by any Aces opponent in the last three seasons as the Liberty outscored Las Vegas 44-24 in the paint.
In Game 2, the Liberty Reserves scored 21 points while holding the Aces to 10 bench points, more than double Las Vegas' scoring output from the bench.
In addition, New York passed Seattle for the longest assist streak in playoff history with at least 15 assists for the 26th straight playoff game.
Game 3 between the Liberty and the Las Vegas Aces is scheduled for Friday, October 4.
