‘Why not consider them’ - Ex-Man City defender who rejected Nigeria urges Nwaneri to pick England over Super Eagles
Arsenal youngster Nwaneri has been one of the most impressive youngsters in Europe following his performance this season.
The midfielder has played the majority of Arsenal games this season, scoring eight goals in all competitions.
The youngster scored for Arsenal in their 7-1 win over PSV Eindhoven in the UEFA Champions League first leg.
Onuoha speaks on Nwaneri
During a UEFA Champions League broadcast of Match of the Day, Onuoha discussed Nwaneri's quick ascension. He proposed that Nwaneri should be considered for international duty despite his young age.
He said, "He’s such a star, I’d be very surprised if he spends a lot of time on the bench after (Bukayo) Saka comes back. Every chance he will find to be in that team and make a big difference."
Onuoha also discussed the possibility of including younger talents like Nwaneri and Myles Lewis-Skelly in the England squad.
He said, "You’d like to think so. Obviously, they are young and they’ve got many, many years ahead of them, but if they are good enough now then why not consider them?"
The Man City player who rejected Nigeria to play for England claimed that the Three Lions should consider inviting the youngster to the national team.
Nigeria are also looking to convince the Arsenal star to pick the Super Eagles over the Three Lions and the NFF are battling it out with the England FA for his approval.
