“We changed many things during this transfer window. Over the last two or three days, we talked a lot about what we needed to be. Not tactically, but in terms of spirit and body language. This is just one game,” Guardiola stated, as reported by Sportal.

The success was crucial for the Citizens, especially as it came just before the start of their European campaign this season. In a few days, on Thursday, September 18th, Manchester City will host Italian champions Napoli at the Etihad in their opening Champions League group stage fixture.

“I want to be a manager who allows players to play football. Today, you might find one or two teams doing that, while the rest play man-to-man. So, leave Erling Haaland one-on-one. Until the last day, I will try to play the way we have played for ten years. But we will adapt,” Guardiola added.

Finally, the Sky Blues' manager commented on the immense contribution of Erling Haaland, who scored two of the team's three goals in the victory.

“Erling is incredible. This season, he is better than ever. I would say he is better than the season we won the treble. Very dynamic. We want him to score goals and help us,” Guardiola concluded.
