We set boundaries — Bruno Fernandes describes his relationship with Amorim

Manchester United captain Bruno Fernandes has provided some insights into the type of relationship he has with Ruben Amorim, explaining that his compatriot is a serious operator when on the clock. 

Bruno and Amorim's time at Sporting did not overlap, as the former Casa Pia coach was hired weeks after Fernandes left for Manchester United. Still, they have a strong coach-captain relationship and share a Portuguese identity. 

Amorim's time in charge has been rife with failures, uncertainty, and fractured relationships with members of the squad. However, he has the full support of the club's hierarchy and captain Fernandes, who has shown public support regularly. 

The Selecao star is in inspired form this season and has been chiefly responsible for the team's resurgence this season, with five goals and seven assists in 16 Premier League games. 

In a recent interview with Canal 11, Bruno delved into his relationship with his boss, explaining how they have managed to keep it respectful and cordial. 

 "We set a boundary so that things don't get crossed, but if I have to make a little comment here or there,” he said, per Goal. “I try not to do it in front of the other players. 

“But if he might say something, I'll say something he doesn't like me to say: 'Just like JJ'. He's a very serious person at work, like me; his connection with the Sporting players was incredible.”

"Here, he's increasingly trying to get into the players' heads and hearts so that the relationship is more man-to-man and not coach-to-player."
