What Sodje said

Speaking during an interview with Brila FM, Sodje expressed deep concerns over the management and long-term direction of the Super Eagles.

He said, “We have to start thinking about where we are as a country. The NFF has to be reformed; the old guard has to give way. We have to understand that preparation is key.”

The former defender stressed that Nigeria is lagging both organisationally and technically, pointing to systemic issues within the federation.

“We have to start preparing for the next one because we are so behind when it comes to organisation. Technically, we are so behind as well,” he explained.

Sodje clarified that his criticism was not directed at the national team coaches but rather at the federation’s technical leadership.

He added, “When I say technically, I am not talking about the national team coaching crew. I am talking about the technical committee at the NFF, they have to do better.”

Sodje also highlighted the impact of poor administration on supporters, insisting that Nigerian fans are being shortchanged.

“We have to know exactly what we want for our country. It’s not fair to the fans; we deserve better,” he added.
