Villarreal's CEO confirms Danjuma rumours
Villarreal's CEO, Fernando Roig Negueroles, confirmed that they are indeed in talks with clubs like Everton over the transfer of Danjuma.
The 25-year-old Dutch international signed for Villarreal in the summer of 2021 from Bournemouth and is now set to return to England.
Roig confirms Danjuma rumours
The 48-year-old CEO of Villarreal Roig Negueroles, son of President Fernando Roig Alfonso, confirmed the rumours about Danjuma's departure from the club.
He clarified, however, that no formal offers had been made for the player.
“Right now we do not have a formal offer, it is true that there are rumours and there is interest, but I think that the market is beginning to move now and we will see how it evolves,” Roig told AS.
“I don't know what will happen in the next few weeks."
Bruno Alemany, a reporter for the Spanish publication Cadena SER, reports that Everton's interest in Danjuma is one of a loan with an option to buy.
Danjuma for Villarreal
Danjuma was an exciting new signing for Villarreal when he joined in the summer of 2021.
He hit the ground running quickly and had a very successful first season, though troubled by injuries.
Danjuma scored 16 goals for Villarreal in 34 games during his first season.
He was part of Villarreal's impressive Champions League campaign that term, scoring six goals in eleven games.
He has generally performed well for Villarreal when available, but his availability has been hampered by injuries.
Danjuma missed 16 games for Villarreal last year due to injury, and it spilt over into periods when he was fit, as he was used sparingly.
