Osayi Samuel’s contract situation
The 26-year-old defender joined the Yellow Canaries in the summer of 2021 from Queens Park Rangers, and the four-year deal he signed at the time is set to expire at the end of the season.
Fenerbahce have been working on renewal since last year and have sent multiple offers to the Nigerian. However, the Super Eagles star rebuffed all he had been presented with, as he deemed the economic terms unfavourable.
Fenerbahce not giving up
Despite the contract standoff, Osayi Samuel is still keen on continuing with the club. He was of keen interest to a number of clubs who were looking to snap him up for free, but he remained at the Fenerbahce.
According to Milliyet, as relayed by Ntvspor, Fenerbahce are keen on keeping the Nigerian as well and will send an improved offer, despite Osayi having fallen out of the starting 11 due to Mourinho's decision to switch to a 3-4-1-2 formation.
The former Blackpool defender is currently on a reported €2.5 million yearly salary. It is believed that Fenerbahçe are prepared to offer him a bumper pay raise to keep his services.
