Time to win: Chelsea plot summer move for 11-cap Super Eagles star

Chelsea are expected to make big moves in the upcoming summer transfer window, as they look to become title challengers next season.

The Blues had an early flurry of good results to start the season but fell off in the later months as the goals and big performances dried up.

Nicolas Jackson, who was relied on to provide the firepower, missed too many chances and eventually suffered a long-term injury, leaving Cole Palmer and Christopher Nkunku as the only real attacking threats.

Maresca is reportedly keen on signing a new striker, and the Chelsea boss has identified Bayer Leverkusen's Victor Boniface as a top addition.

According to Caught Offside, the Blues are prepared to do whatever it takes to win the race for Boniface.

The report adds Chelsea are likely to face competition from Manchester United and Arsenal, whilst Newcastle could move if they lose Alexander Isak.

Boniface has struggled to regain his starting role since returning from injury, and his absence from the starting lineup has been a recurring theme in recent matches.

Since his return from injury in late January, the 24-year-old has managed just 141 minutes across seven league matches. 

Perhaps the writing on the wall is clear for Boniface, and a move to Chelsea could be the next step in a promising career.
