‘That is the beginning of everything’ - Amorim hails players' fighting spirit in Liverpool’s win
The Red Devils claimed their first back-to-back victory in almost a year following a spirited display at Anfield.
Amorim’s team handed Liverpool their third defeat in a row following a stunning 2-1 victory on Sunday evening.
The win provides a significant boost for Amorim, who has been under intense scrutiny since succeeding Erik ten Hag last November.
Amorim hypes his players
Amorim has praised his team after his tactical plan paid off, though he acknowledged his team rode their luck at times.
"In key points we had some luck, but we fought for every ball," Amorim stated, as reported by Daily Mail. "We lost our composure in the second half, but the most important thing was that the spirit was there. That is the beginning of everything."
He added, "Sometimes you play more with the ball, other days you play without the ball. But if you have the spirit, you can win any game."
Amorim continued, "Of course we need moments: to score first, saves from our goalkeeper, one shot on the post—to start believing that we can win any game," Amorim explained. "But you could feel it... they started believing it was possible."
Amorim had previously called on his players to show a stronger mentality and they responded emphatically. The win secured Manchester United's first league victory at Anfield since 2016.
