On Monday, March 3, 2025, the Super Eagles celebrated Yekini.

The Super Eagles remembered the Yekini in a collaborative post with the Confederation of Africa (CAF) official social media platforms.

Along with the post was a message that said, "Tell me about passion, I’ll tell you about Rashidi Yekini."

Yekini made history at the FIFA World Cup by scoring Nigeria's first goal.

Yekini scored a tap-in after latching onto a cross from Finidi George, and he then celebrated his goal with one of the most famous World Cup celebrations.

The former African Footballer of the Year sprinted into the goals, seized the net, and screamed as loudly as he could after scoring what Nigeria's first goal at the World Cup.

As a Nigerian international, Yekini scored 37 goals, played for his country in five major competitions, including two World Cups, and won the 1993 African Footballer of the Year award.
