Nigerian Lionel Messi fans brought out their pitchforks in protest against popular police PPRO Bright Edafe after the law enforcement officer backed Cristiano Ronaldo in the GOAT debate following the Portuguese’s recent exceptional showing.

As Pulse Sports reported, Ronaldo updated his CV as the greatest goalscorer of all time, as his latest brace in Al-Nassr’s victory over Al-Akhdood helped him set another tremendous record, as he became the all-time top scorer in the history of first-division league football.

The second goal of Ronaldo’s record-setting brace was a stunning lob shot from range to beat the strayed Paulo Vitor.

The audacious lob stunned all and sundry, including Delta State Police Commission PRO Mr Edafe, who thought the strike was proof that Ronaldo was a far better footballer than his rival Messi.

“There is absolutely no basis for Ronaldo Messi comparison,” he said on his X account.

As expected, fans of the Argentine were in disagreement with the cop, as they believe the absence of a World Cup in Ronaldo’s trophy cabinet makes Edafe's statement untenable.

“He should prove himself in the World Cup,” one fan challenged. A second shared similar sentiments with more vim, “Oga police. I like your position and I respect it. But my question to you is this: WHERE IS RONALDO'S WORLD CUPA? NO WORLD CUP, NO DEBATE, SIR.”
