See you in November — Aubameyang warns Super Eagles ahead of World Cup Playoffs

Nigeria's Super Eagles brushed aside Benin 4-0 in their final Group C clash on Tuesday in Uyo, thanks to a superb hat-trick from Victor Osimhen.

However, the win was not enough for top spot, as South Africa’s 3-0 rout of Rwanda in Mbombela secured first place and their first World Cup since 2010.

A stoppage-time goal from Brentford’s Frank Onyeka proved vital, pushing Eric Chelle’s side to second place with 17 points, edging Burkina Faso on goal difference as one of Africa’s four best runners-up.

Gabon sealed second in Group F with a 2-0 win over Burundi, while Ivory Coast, DR Congo, and Cameroon also qualified as runners-up.

Aubameyang, in stunning form with four goals in his last three games for Gabon, posted on his X account: “We're carrying on proud of my team, what a run! See you in November #WorldCup2026 #AubaMagic.”

Gabon are in outstanding form with 5 straight wins, and are expected to pose an even tougher test for the Super Eagles than Benin did in Uyo.

However, Nigeria, led by Eric Chelle, will be full of confidence after they thumped Benin, and as long as Osimhen remains fit, they will be considered favourites to advance.
