See you in court — Mbappé files lawsuit against PSG AGAIN over alleged extortion amid epic wage battle
Kylian Mbappé’s legal team has lodged a criminal complaint in Paris against an unnamed PSG official, alleging extortion and moral harassment.
According to Diario AS via AFP, the suit was filed on May 16, 2025.
The accusation centers on how the Real Madrid star was sidelined to a so-called “loft” zone in summer 2023—a squad of fringe players—intended to pressure him into signing a contract extension.
The France superstar forward contends that this forced isolation was coercive and unlawful.
French labor union UNFP previously condemned such “loft” tactics as illegal pressure.
Two investigating judges have since been appointed to determine whether this treatment amounts to criminal misconduct.
Mbappe’s €55 Million wage & bonus dispute with PSG
Parallel to the new lawsuit, Mbappé, 26, has pursued a civil case against PSG, demanding up to €55 million.
This includes outstanding salary payments for April, May, and June 2024, as well as unpaid loyalty and signing bonuses for previous seasons.
In April 2025, a Paris court froze up to €55 million in PSG’s accounts as a precautionary measure ahead of a scheduled May 26 hearing.
Mbappé’s team also sought intervention from the French sports minister and UEFA, warning that PSG could lose its Champions League license if it’s found in breach of salary obligations.
PSG's response and appeal
However, PSG has disputed Mbappe's claim.
The Ligue 1 giants argued that a verbal agreement existed, under which Mbappé waived some payments in exchange for reinstatement in 2023.
The reigning Champions League winners have reportedly appealed previous rulings mandating payment and launched a counterclaim for €98–109 million, accusing Mbappé of harming the club’s finances .
