United had appeared ready to sanction a deal that would see Sancho join Roma on loan, with an obligation to buy in 2026 for around £20 million ($27m).

According to Fabrizio Romano (via GiveMeSport), the terms were favourable for the Red Devils, who remain keen to offload the 25-year-old.

But Sancho has turned down the switch, with reports citing a mix of “financial and technical factors.”

Further details from Corriere dello Sport suggest Sancho’s agent has placed hefty demands on negotiations, reportedly requesting a €10m (£9.5m/$11.6m) commission which has already deterred potential suitors, including Atletico Madrid and Juventus.

Even Roma, who stretched their financial capacity to explore the deal, are said to be rethinking their position.

For Manchester United, the rejected deal represents a major setback. The club paid £73m ($99m) to sign Sancho from Borussia Dortmund in 2021, but the England international has struggled to replicate his Bundesliga form at Old Trafford.

His refusal to accept Roma’s offer now complicates United’s efforts to trim the wage bill and free up space for reinforcements.

Sancho remains in limbo, training away from the first team and awaiting clarity on his next move, while United weigh their options with less than two weeks before the transfer window closes.
