Report: Man Utd flop wants to rejuvenate career at Old Trafford

Manchester United playmaker Mason Mount has reportedly decided to stay at the club, despite a challenging second season at Old Trafford.

Mount has managed only four goals and one assist in 46 appearances across all competitions since his £57.9 million arrival in 2023. 

Although he has three years remaining on his contract, United are reportedly open to selling him for a suitable price this summer.

Competition for places in Ruben Amorim’s system has increased following the signing of Matheus Cunha and a new offer tabled for Bryan Mbeumo.

However, Fabrizio Romano indicates Mount is focused solely on regaining full fitness and looks forward to a full pre-season under Ruben Amorim.

Amorim's trust in Mount grew towards the end of last season, with the player starting the Europa League final and the final four Premier League games. 

Despite his 2024-25 campaign being marred by two hamstring injuries, the Englishman’s decision to stay is seen as logical. His current manager clearly believes in his abilities, and room could be made in the squad if the Red Devils make successful sales. 

Man Utd, who have no European exertions next season, return to pre-season next month, aiming to navigate playing just Premier League football with minimal fuss.
