Goals from Alexander Isak and Joelinton in the opening 20 minutes saw Eddie Howe's side take advantage of the Red Devils' slow start, and it stayed that way for the rest of the game.
The defeat leaves Amorim's men 14th in the Premier League heading into 2025, a position that has been fatal for four teams in the Premier League era — Newcastle (2008-09), Burnley (2009-10), Norwich (2013-14) and Leeds (2022-23) — with all four clubs failing to beat the drop on those occasions.

Following Amorim's sixth defeat in 11 in all competitions (five in the Premier League), the Red Devils are seven points clear of the relegation zone, prompting Carragher's post-match remarks.
"Manchester United have lost five of the last six. That is relegation form," said the former Liverpool defender on Sky Sports.
According to Opta, United's sixth defeat in December saw the Manchester giants fall to their most losses in a month since falling to seven in September 1930, underscoring the struggles under the new regime.
