Osimhen impact insufficient as Real Madrid romp Napoli to win group

Real Madrid came from behind to control proceedings, and when it seemed Osimhen's introduction swung momentum Napoli's way, Los Blancos doubled down and beat the Neapolitans 4-2.

Carlo Ancelotti's side beat Napoli at the Diego Armando Maradona while Rudi Garcia was in charge, and have now done the double over the Serie A champions when they hosted the Walter Mazzarri-led team at Santiago Bernabeu.

Napoli had a peppy start to the game and took the lead as early as the 9th minute when Giovanne Simeone turned the ball into the net from close range.

Real Madrid responded brilliantly, and a moment of individual brilliance from Rodrygo led to an equaliser in the 11th minute. Jude Bellingham put the hosts in the lead in the 22nd minute thanks to a brilliant header. 

Osimhen was introduced at halftime, and two minutes after the resumption, Napoli restored parity thanks to the relentless Zambo Anguissa.

The hosts increased intensity and in the 84th minute, young Nico Paz scored a stunner to restore Real Madrid’s lead. Joselu scored Madrid’s fourth in the 94th minute to confirm the result.
