Onana replacement: Pundit expresses shock at Man Utd’s rumoured transfer choice
Andre Onana’s Manchester United future has been thrown into further doubt after fresh links to a top goalkeeper.
The Cameroonian, currently sidelined with a hamstring injury, has been widely criticised for several high-profile mistakes since moving from Inter Milan two years ago.
Onana has committed four errors directly leading to goals in the Premier League since moving to Old Trafford in 2023, and while the ex-Ajax man still makes quality saves, the consistency of those stops mean the Red Devils continue to consider alternatives.
Emiliano Martinez has previously been linked with a transfer to United, though the Red Devils and Aston Villa are said to want different terms, with the Manchester giants said to be keen on a loan deal while the Villans want an outright sale.
Given that reported impasse, Man Utd are reportedly considering another option.
Manchester United interested in Gianluigi Donnarumma
Gianluigi Donnarumma's future at Paris Saint-Germain appears uncertain as the club nears a deal for Lille’s Lucas Chevalier.
With his contract expiring next summer, the likelihood of Donnarumma receiving a renewal agreement seems slim.
PSG are wary of losing another high-profile player for free, reminiscent of Kylian Mbappe’s departure, and plan to sell the former AC Milan goalkeeper.
United have reportedly initiated discussions with PSG regarding a potential transfer for the Italy international, who has also attracted interest from Al-Ittihad and Galatasaray.
Talking on ESPN, Alejandro Moreno showed surprise not at the Red Devils’ interest in Donnarumma, but whether the Italian would be eager for the move, considering Ruben Amorim’s team finished last season 15th in the Premier League; PSG won the Champions League.
“Manchester United would be lucky to have Gigio Donnarumma,” said Moreno. “Why would Gianluigi Donnarumma leave PSG to go to Manchester United? That should be the first question. Are you kidding me?”

Who have Manchester United signed this summer?
Although Diego Leon's transfer from Cerro Porteno has slipped under the radar, United's deals for Matheus Cunha from Wolves and Bryan Mbeumo from Brentford have dominated headlines, given their experience in the Premier League.
Amorim’s side are reportedly still in the market for more arrivals, while they are keen to move on Antony, Jadon Sancho and Alejandro Garnacho, having already found a solution for Marcus Rashford, who joined Barcelona on loan for the 2025-26 season.
