From the gates, the Spanish shot-stopper expressed his ambition, stating that he came to Arsenal to win, as he is confident that Mikel Arteta, his fellow Basque citizen, has built a team on the precipice of glory.

“I'm really, really happy to be here, really excited and looking forward to what is coming,” Kepa said, per the Arsenal website

“The ambition that is shown in this club, when I talk with Mikel [Arteta] and Inaki [Cana], how much they show me their desire to win… I think we are so close to winning and, hopefully, altogether, we can achieve it.”

The 30-year-old joined the Blues from Athletic Club for €80 million, which is still the world record transfer fee for a goalkeeper. He lost the starting spot at Chelsea and has since gone on loan to Real Madrid and Bournemouth.

Raheem Sterling last season, Kai Havertz before that and William earlier; Kepa is the latest in the list of players that struggled in West London or are last their prime, signed by Mikel Arteta's Arsenal.

Meanwhile, Arsenal have also reportedly initiated talks with Chelsea for English winger Noni Madueke. According to the reports, Arsenal see him as an ideal target to deputise for Saka or provide competition on the left flank.
