Nigeria 3-2 Tunisia: Osimhen, Lookman on fire in crucial win

Osimhen opened the scoring with a bullet header just before half-time, following several missed chances, as Nigeria dominated and probed for the breakthrough.

The Galatasaray striker got his head to Lookman’s cross to give Nigeria the lead and open his account at AFCON 2025.

Tunisia were shell-shocked, and it was evident in the second half as Nigeria came out even hungrier, and soon got their reward for endless pressure.

Newly-installed captain Wilfred Ndidi got his first international goal for The Super Eagles, and recreated the famous celebration from legend Kanu Nwankwo to send the stadium into a frenzy.

Lookman made it 3-0, just after the hour mark, finishing brilliantly after unselfish work from Osimhen, who turned provider, as both former CAF Player of the Year winners put the Super Eagles seemingly out of sight.

However, Tunisia refused to lay down and take a beating. Ismaël Gharbi pulled one back in the 74th minute, and the tension reached a breaking point when Ali Abdi hammered home a late penalty after a controversial VAR handball call against Bright Osayi-Samuel.

In the end, the Super Eagles held on for a famous win, and now move up to 6 points and first place in Group C, guaranteeing a place in the knockout stage.
