The Super Eagles are set to face the hosts, Morocco, in the semi-final of the competition on Wednesday, January 13th, at the Prince Moulay Abdellah Stadium in Rabat and victory will keep them on the path to their fourth AFCON title.

Joeboy’s bet

Given the Atlas Lions' form in this tournament and their status as host, they are odds-on favourites to win the tie against the Super Eagles. Still, the ‘Alcohol’ crooner is confident in his country’s ability to overcome, and he puts his money where his mouth is.

He shared a betting slip on social media in which he staked ₦5 million behind the Super Eagles (to qualify). The favourable odds for Nigeria going into the tie will see Joeboy receive an ₦11.5 million windfall.

While Morocco are preferred by the bookies to win the match, Eric Chelle’s side have been in superior form in the AFCON. They have scored the most goals in the competition (14), leaving strong Northern African teams like Tunisia and Algeria in their wake.

However, Walid Regragui’s side can rely on favourable history against the Super Eagles. Morocco have superiority in this tie as it regards head-to-head, as they have already beaten Nigeria six times, suffering defeat against the West Africans only thrice.
