We had a plan — Nigeria's Ladan Bosso says after stunning Argentina win
Nigeria Under-20 manager Ladan Bosso says Nigeria’s impressive outing against FIFA U20 World Cup hosts Argentina was no fluke but planned
Bosso spoke to FIFA media after guiding the Flying Eagles to a historic 2-0 win over Argentina in the round of 16 at San Juan on Wednesday night.
Bosso outwitted the Argentine team managed by former Liverpool and Barcelona star Javier Mascherano thanks to two second half goals.
Argentina’s win was planned
Inspired substitutions from Bosso saw Nigeria’s Flying Eagles give Nigeria a first win over the Argentines at the World Cup while ending their U20WC hopes
Ibrahim Muhammad opened the scoring with a calm finish just after the hour mark before two super-subs, Victor Eletu and Rilwanu Sarki, combined effectively to add a second in added time to seal a famous win over Argentina at a global showpiece.
Nigerians stayed up late to watch the game and were in shock about the victory but the gaffer was happy the game went to plan.
The Flying Eagles boss spoke after the match and had this say about the famous win.
“We need to appreciate what God has done for us,” Ladan Bosso stated moments after the game.
“With what we have seen (in Argentina), in terms of organisation, i think FIFA is doing a very good job.”
“For now, we had a game plan for Argentina and we stuck to the plan and we got it right,” he added.
Bosso and his boys will now face the winner between South Korea and Ecuador.
