Nigeria Under-20 manager Ladan Bosso is the only one not surprised by Nigeria’s impressive outing against FIFA U20 World Cup hosts Argentina.
Bosso said it was an expected end after guiding the Flying Eagles to a historic 2-0 win over Argentina in the round of 16 on Wednesday night.
Argentina’s win was expected
A brilliant second half display and inspired substitutions from Bosso saw Nigeria’s Flying Eagles end Argentina’s U20WC hopes.
Ibrahim Muhammad opened the scoring with a calm finish just after the hour mark before two super-subs, Victor Eletu and Rilwanu Sarki, combined effectively to add a second in added time to seal a famous win over Argentina at the World.
The performance and victory sent shock waves in Nigeria and while many have been surprised by the result, the coach of the side Bosso says it was nothing new to him.
The Flying Eagles boss spoke to FIFA after the match and noted that beating the hosts is nothing new but expected for his boys.
“We need to appreciate what God has done for us,” Ladan Bosso stated moments after the game.
“For me, as far as i am concerned, the results we have seen so far are all expected end.“
Speaking further, Bosso went down memory lane to show how his team is used to taking down hosts.
“I believe in Egypt, we beat the Egypt team (host) to deny them qualification. In Niger, we beat the Nigerien team in one of the matches we played in Niger,” he added.
“And here (San Juan), beating Argentina is not a new thing. As far as i am concerned, it is an expected end. The most important thing is the mindset of the players.”
