After a shock first-half blitz that put Verona 2–0 up, courtesy of a quick opener by Martin Frese and a calmly taken penalty by Orban,  Napoli fought back in the second half to earn a share of the spoils.

The comeback was sparked by Scott McTominay’s header and completed when captain Giovanni Di Lorenzo found the net late, rescuing a point for the hosts in a roller-coaster encounter.

Verona struck first in the 16th minute against the run of play. A swift counter-attack saw Cheikh Niasse pick out Martin Frese, who cleverly flicked the ball home with a back-heel finish to stun the home crowd.

Just over ten minutes later, Hellas Verona were awarded a penalty after VAR spotted a handball by Napoli defender Alessandro Buongiorno inside the box. This gave Gift Orban the chance, and the Nigerian forward kept his nerve, sending the keeper the wrong way to make it 2–0 in the 27th minute.

The second half saw a much more urgent Napoli. In the 54th minute, sustained pressure paid off when Scott McTominay rose to head home from a Noa Lang corner, giving the home side a lifeline.

The momentum began to shift as Napoli pushed numbers forward in search of the equaliser. Napoli’s persistence finally paid off in the 82nd minute. Captain Giovanni Di Lorenzo showed great timing and composure to sweep home an equaliser after Luca Marianucci’s low cross found him in the box. That strike brought Napoli level at 2–2, and despite frantic late efforts from both sides, neither could find a winner before full-time.
