Mohammed Bajaber: Why Simba SC Should Stay Patient With Harambee Stars Midfielder
When Mohammed Bajaber swapped the familiar surroundings of the FKF Premier League for the environment of Dar es Salaam in August 2025, he was hailed as one of the most exciting young prospects in East African football.
However, the Kenyan international's first six months at Simba SC have been gruelling, defined by a tough time on the treatment table and a relentless fight to justify his KES 12 million price tag.
Mohammed Bajaber Goal Tally
Despite the narrative of struggle, Mohammed Bajaber’s efficiency in front of the goal has been remarkable. His time on the pitch has been limited due to a persistent thigh injury, but he has maximised his impact.
To date, Mohammed Bajaber has scored two goals for Simba SC in competitive fixtures. After five months of rehabilitation, the Harambee Stars attacking midfielder finally made his debut against Mbeya City.
Coming off the bench in the second half, he scored with virtually his first touch, a composed finish in the 86th minute to seal a 3-0 victory.
Mohammed Bajaber also proved himself during the Mapinduzi Cup in Zanzibar. He scored the only goal of the match in a 1-0 win over Muembe Makumbi City.
Mohammed Bajaber's Injury Struggles
For a player of Mohammed Bajaber’s calibre, arriving at a club as prestigious as Simba while injured is a nightmare scenario.
He missed the entire pre-season and the opening months of the NBC Premier League, leading to whispers among the 'Wekundu wa Msimbazi' faithful about his fitness.
As 2026 began, the situation grew more complex. Reports emerged in late January that Simba SC was considering removing Mohammed Bajaber from their foreign players' roster to free up.
The rumours suggest that the club's leadership is concerned about his recurring fitness issues, particularly after he was forced off just ten minutes into a match against Mtibwa Sugar in late 2025.
"It was so tough. Joining a big club like Simba with an injury is not easy. The pressure is immense, and for me, it was difficult both mentally and physically. It was tough going to training and on match days just to watch others play while I was on the sidelines," Mohammed Bajaber said in a previous interview.
Mohammed Bajaber’s return coincided with tactical shifts under the leadership of coach Dimitar Pantev. Finding a place in a star-studded midfield that includes the likes of Awesu Aly Awesu and Jean Charles Ahoua requires grit.
As Simba SC weigh their options, Mohammed Bajaber's situation calls for patience. His goal contributions in limited minutes, coupled with the challenges of adapting to a new league while recovering from injury, suggest there is still untapped value in the Kenyan international. If fully fit, Mohammed Bajaber may make a strong case for why Simba SC should not let go just yet.
