“So, I sat down with Mark Gleeson over the last few years and wrote down all my memories, everything about that's in this book. Really excited. I'm excited. So, let's get started. If you can, get a copy of it. It's a great read.

“You can take a lot of good from it, you know, and apply it to your own life. So I really think it's worth the read. So you'll also be able to find the link in my story.

His club career peaked at FC Porto, where he was a pivotal member of Mourinho's historic Champions League-winning team in the 2003/04 season.

On the international front, Benni McCarthy consistently proved himself in high-stakes matches. He was the top scorer at the 1998 AFCON in Burkina Faso and made his mark at the 1998 and 2002 FIFA World Cups.

However, the book also reveals the complexities of his relationship with South African football's governing bodies. It details his frequent clashes with administrators and coaches, which often created a contentious dynamic that overshadowed his on-field accomplishments.

Since retiring as a player, Benni McCarthy has made a successful transition into coaching. After winning trophies in South Africa and honing his skills as part of the coaching staff at Manchester United, he has now taken on the challenge of building a formidable Harambee Stars team for Kenya's historic hosting of the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations. The book is now available for purchase on Amazon.
