Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta has explained why Bukayo Saka was uninvolved in the victory against Leeds, revealing that the England international picked up a knock on injury.

The Gunners beat Leeds 4–0, an emphatic performance and result to get back to winning ways after three consecutive matches without a win. With the win, they moved back to seven points ahead of second-placed Manchester City ahead of the Citizens' clash against Tottenham.

What Arteta said 

Speaking to reporters after the match,  Mikel praised his side for picking up a victory at Elland Road, congratulating his players for their effort and mentality.

“To win 4-0 here is very difficult; let's see when the next time that happens. Big credit to the boys,” Arteta said, per Goal. “The team showed a real dominance, resilience, character and obviously quality. I really liked the attitude of the team.”

Saka was expected to start the game given the importance of the fixture. However, he was left out of the matchday squad, with Noni Madueke taking up his place in the squad.

Arteta revealed that Saka suffered a knock during warm-up before praising Madueke, who registered two assists in the 4–0. When asked about the absence and the winger’s availability for the next match, he said: We don't know yet. He had a little niggle in the warm-up.”
