Messi vs Ronaldo: Chelsea legend Frank Lampard joins Steven Gerrard in making U-turn in GOAT debate
Millions of supporters are rallying behind both players in the iconic GOAT argument, with each side declaring their player to be the greatest in the world.
Messi's supporters claim that the Argentine was the GOAT after he won the FIFA World Cup with his teammates.
However, the debate is still on, with some popular figures in football making a U-turn on their decision.
Lampard change of decision
Lampard has also joined the Gerrard waggon, with the former Chelsea manager changing his decision on the GOAT debate.
Speaking to Gary Neville as reported by TalkSports, Lampard said, "You know what, I've always been a Messi man and then I watched your debate with Jamie Carragher recently.
"I actually think for Ronaldo's output and actual numbers, and goals in big finals and semi-finals like we've seen, I think I maybe give him the edge. That's going to start a load of hate, now."
Not only has the Al Ettifaq manager changed his mind about his earlier decision, but his former England teammate has also done so.
Lampard previously picked Messi over Ronaldo due to his natural footballing ability but has now picked the Portuguese over the Argentine.
