The report states those offers were rejected out of hand as United do not want to discuss any transfers until a conclusion to the investigation has been reached.

The situation surrounding his Manchester United's future remains unclear and The Athletic reports figures at the club are unsure how he will deal with the scrutiny if he plays for united again.

A representative of Greenwood said:

“There’s no real substance to any of this, it is a mix of old news, speculation, half-truths, and completely untrue claims. Mason is 21, he has been cleared and should be allowed the opportunity to rebuild and move forward with his young life.”

The Academy graduate has been suspended by United since he was first arrested on suspicion of rape and assaulting a woman in January 2022.

His suspension from the club has continued since then and he has not played or been involved in a matchday squad since. He has also not trained for the club and it remains unclear what the next step will be.
