Manchester United confirm De Gea talks, Sabitzer and Weghorst out
Premier League giants Manchester United have provided an update on the contract situation of goalkeeper David De Gea and two other players at the club.
De Gea has been the subject of intense discussion with his contract set to expire on Friday.
United have now provided an insight into the situation with their goalkeeper and his teammates Marcel Sabitzer and Wout Weghorst.
Man United provide squad update
The Red Devils have revealed in a statement that the club is indeed in talks with De Gea.
United stated on their website that De Gea’s contract is up but they remain in talks for a new deal.
“De Gea’s contract is due to run out but discussions remain open,” the club stated.
This latest development will not go down well with fans of the club who want the 31-year-old old.
United are also said to be reportedly looking to replace De Gea with Inter Milan’s Andre Onana.
Onana could be reunited with Erik Ten Hag, whom he spent successful time with at Ajax Amsterdam.
Sabitzer and Weghorst to leave
Meanwhile, the Red Devils have also revealed that loanees Marcel Sabitzer and Wout Weghorst have left the club.
Sabitzer has returned to Bayern Munich while Weghorst will remain in the Premier League with Burnley who were promoted last season.
Both players were part of the United team that won the Carabao Cup last season.
