What Manchester United must do to replace unwanted De Gea with Onana
Manchester United’s goalkeeper David De Gea will see his contract at the club expire later today.
De Gea will become a free agent on Friday but remains in talks to extend his stay at Old Trafford beyond this season.
The 31-year-old has become an unwanted man especially from the fans who have asked the Spanish goalkeeper to leave the club.
Onana to replace De Gea
With the contract situation between the club and De Gea unresolved, United have reportedly turned their radar to Cameroonian goalkeeper Andre Onana.
Onana is seen as Erik Ten Hag’s preferred choice to replace De Gea and have held talks with Serie A side Inter Milan for a transfer.
However, according to a report from TalkSport, the Red Devils can only land their main target if Ten Hag sells players. Onana is said to be valued at 50 million euros by Inter Milan.
The Dutchman is interested in working with Onana again after their successful time at Ajax but must raise money through sales to finance the move.
United are said to be open to listening to offers for some of their players led by skipper, Harry Maguire, Anthony Martial, Fred and Scott McTominay.
Ten Hag’s Reds have started their summer business following the an agreement with Chelsea for the transfer of England midfielder Mason Mount.
