Mamelodi Sundowns Splash $3.5 Million on Colombian Striker Ahead of Potential Pitso Mosimane Reunion
While legendary coach Pitso Mosimane continues to be linked with a return to Mamelodi Sundowns, the South African giants are showing big ambitions after agreeing a deal worth $3.5 million for a Colombian forward.
Sundowns and Mosimane are reported to be in talks over a potential reunion, six years since the 61-year-old ended his eight-year trophy-laden stint at the club.
Mosimane is being lined up as the potential replacement for current coach Miguel Cardoso whose future is uncertain as he enters the final months of his deal while Sundowns have had a shaky first half of the campaign.
The veteran coach could soon be working with Colombian striker Brayan Leon, who is set to join the club in a deal worth a staggering $3.5 million (Ksh451 million) as per transfer news guru Fabrizio Romano.

“After fullback Juan Arizala sold to Udinese as revealed last week, Independiente Medellin prepare one more sale. Brayan Leon leaves the club to join Mamelodi Sundowns for $3.5m package plus sell-on clause,” Romano posted on X at the weekend.
Leon is set to join Sundowns this month from Colombian club Independiente Medellin and will be the latest South American to play for the South African champions who have seen the likes of Gaston Sirino (Uruguay) and Ricardo Nascimento (Brazil) among others enjoy success at the club.
He will link up with Arthur Sales (Brazil) and Marcelo Allende (Chile) the South Americans currently at Sundowns as he looks to fire the club to success.
Leon has 217 matches under his belt since turning professional in 2020, scoring 48 goals while providing 30 assists, and had scored 33 for Independiente Medellín and added 17 assists in 141 games before his transfer to Sundowns.
