Madugu assures Super Falcons improvement at WAFCON
Head coach Justine Madugu has emphasized the necessity for ongoing improvement despite the Super Falcons' decisive 3-1 victory against Ghana's Black Queens in a friendly played in Casablanca.
During a closed-door match at the Ziaida Palace Benslimane field, goals from Chinwendu Ihezuo, Asisat Oshoala, and captain Rasheedat Ajibade confirmed the Falcons’ dominance over the Queens.
Madugu’s impressive record with the Super Falcons was bolstered by their win against Ghana’s Black Queens.
Under his leadership, the Falcons effortlessly advanced beyond Ethiopia in the Olympic 2024 qualifying race and dominated Cape Verde to secure their spot in the upcoming Women AFCON.
In the previous year, Madugu guided the Falcons to a dominant performance against Algeria’s senior girls in two exhibition games in Ikenne and Lagos, as well as limiting France in a narrow loss.
Madugu on Super Falcons improvement
In a statement by the NFF he said, “The match gave us the opportunity of having the full squad together to really assess our strength as a team, and build on team cohesion, coordination and on various combinations.
“It will always be work in progress, but we are very focused on our realizable and achievable target of Mission X.
"The girls are ready and are showing real hunger for victory and team spirit is high. We are looking forward to our first match on Sunday against Tunisia.
“We will continue to work on our weak areas, and I believe that by the time of our first match, we will be ready."
This year, Madugu guided the Super Falcons to a 2-0 friendly victory against Cameroon in Cameroon and selected a team that battled fiercely in a 0-0 match against Portugal in Lisbon.
