Super Falcons: Deborah Abiodun praises Nigeria's 3-1 win against Ghana

Nigeria's Super Falcons secured a convincing 3-1 win against Ghana's Black Queens in a recent pre-tournament friendly held in Lanouria, Morocco.

It was a massive as they prepare for the Women's Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) 2024, set for Morocco.

The match, which took place as part of the Super Falcons' final preparations, saw Nigeria dominate early with goals from Chiwendu Ihezuo in the 34th minute.

Asisat Oshoala scored from the penalty spot in the 44th minute, and Rasheedat Ajibade in the 50th minute.

Ghana managed a consolation goal in the 88th minute, but it was not enough as Nigeria held on for the win.

Midfielder Deborah Abiodun, a key figure in the Super Falcons' setup, shared her thoughts on the match.

She emphasizing the significance of the victory and the team's readiness for the upcoming challenge.

She said, "I think it was a good training match, especially playing a team like Ghana.

"They bring the physicality and i think it is very the team.

"It's like a step towards our main aim of this competition to keep winning.

"Regardless if it is a friendly game, we have to give everything we have.

"Despite the weather we were able to get a result."

The Super Falcons are drawn in Group A alongside South Africa, Algeria, and Tunisia.

The tournament, starting on July 5, 2024, will see Nigeria aiming to navigate through a competitive group stage, with the top two teams from each group advancing to the quarter-finals.
