Manchester United legend Sir Alex Ferguson received a hero’s welcome at Old Trafford despite arriving at the stadium wearing a protective boot on his lower left leg.

The 84-year-old former manager was present to support Michael Carrick’s side against Ipswich Town, with supporters visibly concerned by his condition.
